On the 1st September 2017, Joel and Amy married at St Mary's church, Norton before hosting a reception at Headlam Hall.
I arrived on the morning of the wedding at Amy's parents house to a calm atmosphere that was steadily building into excitement at the prospect of what lay ahead. While Amy's make up artist was applying the finishing touches to her Bride, Father of the Groom, Kev, arrived with a surprise gift from Joel. Amy excitedly unwrapped a beautiful pair of Laboutins and from there on in, the mood ramped up a level! We shot a range of natural moments and posed portraits around the house before I headed off to catch the boys at St Mary's church.
St Mary's is a beautiful church, set just off the green in Norton, and a great venue for photographs. The ceremony shots are well lit due to the huge stained glass windows, while outside a picturesque pathway leads down to a lichgate, perfect for throwing confetti. The ceremony itself was packed full of emotion, particularly from Joel who cut a nervous figure as his bride walked along the aisle!
After the service, I spent time capturing natural moments outside of the church before we moved on to Headlam Hall, where we would shoot a series of family portraits and bridal party shots. The grounds at Headlam Hall are stunning, so we made the best of the favourable weather by enjoying a walk with the camera through the manicured gardens.
The weather for Joel and Amy's drinks reception couldn't of been any better, warm enough to enjoy the outdoor space but not too overbearing. The layer of cloud helped with my photographs too!
As the guys settled down to their wedding breakfast, the Heavens opened and there was even a hint of thunder in the air.....if it was going to happen, this could be considered perfect timing.
By the time the Headlam Hall staff had cleared the tables, the weather had taken a turn for the better and it was time for the high anticipated speeches. The speeches are always a highlight of the day and for Joel and Amy, this was no exception. Emotional and heartfelt speeches from the Father of The Bride and the Groom were followed by a Best Man's speech that was VERY close to the bone (and I've seen LOTS of speeches).....but absolutely hilarious and hugely enjoyed by everyone! Exactly how a Best Man's speech should be, in my humble opinion!
It was brilliant to shoot for Joel and Amy, who are a wonderful couple with a great future ahead of them. I loved being back at Headlam Hall and am very happy with this set of images. I'd upgraded my camera before this wedding and the results are seriously impressive, the new Canon 5d Mk IV really doesn't miss a beat, its amazing!
Congratulations Amy and Joel! xxx
