Liverpool 2024 Photography Workshop Review – A Photographer’s Perspective

As a landscape photographer, I’ve had the privilege of leading photography workshops across some incredible locations, but Liverpool continues to hold a special place in my heart. The 2024 Liverpool workshop offered an inspiring mix of iconic landmarks, hidden gems, and dynamic urban scenes that captivated both myself and the talented group of photographers who joined me.

Exploring Liverpool Through the Lens

The Georgian Quarter offered endless opportunities for street photography, with its timeless architecture and vibrant atmosphere. The cobbled streets and historic buildings provided the perfect backdrop for creative compositions and storytelling.

At Pier Head, we captured the grandeur of Liverpool’s iconic waterfront, featuring the stunning Liver Building and the shimmering reflections of the River Mersey. This location truly shines in golden hour light, and we were lucky enough to witness it in all its glory.

The Liverpool Museum provided a modern contrast, with sleek lines and contemporary architecture. Here, we worked on framing and perspectives to highlight its unique design.

Albert Dock delivered a mix of classic and contemporary, from its historic warehouses to its vibrant reflections on the water. Long exposures were a highlight here, especially as night fell and the dock’s lights transformed the scene.

What Made This Workshop Special

The real magic of the Liverpool 2024 workshop came from the group’s energy and enthusiasm. Together, we experimented with long exposures, explored low-light photography, and embraced the ever-changing light that makes Liverpool so photogenic. We enjoyed a few refreshment breaks to get out of the rain along the way too! 

Our central accommodation made it easy to maximize our shooting time, allowing us to rise early for sunrise shoots and stay out late for night photography sessions. The flexibility of the itinerary ensured we could adapt to weather conditions.
