Rebecca and Steven - New Years Eve at Jesmond Dene House

The final day of 2017 was also my final wedding of a fantastic season. I’d been hugely looking forward to spending the last day of the year capturing wedding moments for Rebecca and Steven at the majestic Jesmond Dene House, Newcastle. A New Years Eve wedding promised to be a lot of fun, especially as we had all got along together so well in the run up to the wedding.

I arrived at Rebecca’s Mums' house just as Rochelle Bates MUA was applying the finishing touches to the bridal make up. The girls were all in great spirits, with prosecco flowing and a relaxed atmosphere in the house, there was even a little bit of 90s hip-hop/RnB going on in the background! We captured natural moments of the preparations alongside a handful of portraits before I moved on to Jesmond Dene House to catch the boys.

Ste and his groomsmen looked remarkably dapper in black tie outfits, suitably dressed for a classy venue and certainly ready to party the night away. We had time to grab a few relaxed shots of the lads and a group portrait as the light streamed through the high windows of the venue, before the arrival of Rebecca.

The ceremony room at Jesmond Dene House looked fantastic as we awaited the brides arrival, with a roaring fireplace giving a distinctly wintery feel.

The ceremony proved to be a highlight of a great day, particularly as Ste nervously fluffed his lines, answering "Er...YES" rather than the traditional "I DO" much to the delight of an hysterical congregation!

After the ceremony, guests gathered outside of the venue to greet the new Mr and Mrs Taylor with a shower of confetti and a resounding cheer for their newly married hosts.

We captured group shots and photographs of Rebecca and Steven around the grounds of Jesmond Dene House, before guests settled down to their afternoon meal, followed by the speeches.

The speeches are always one of my favourite parts of the day to photograph, and this wedding was no exception. We used the natural light of the room, slow(ish) shutter speeds and a tripod to shoot candid moments and I am really happy with results. The photographs are helped by the fact that the speeches were seriously good, with lots of laughter and emotion begging to be captured on my cameras.

With the formalities almost over and the party in full swing, we took our chance to grab some outdoor shots with sparklers before the Bride and Groom prepared to delight their guests with their first dance.  It didn't take long before guests joined Rebecca and Steven on the dance floor while the band ensured that the New Years Eve atmosphere was of the highest order.

I honestly don't think I've enjoyed a New Years Eve quite as much as this one for years. After a busy Christmas period I'm usually itching to get back to normality, so the New Years Eve party generally passes me by. This year it was wonderful to be a part of a great celebration, with a genuinely lovely group of people who were dead set on enjoying themselves to the highest degree.

I'm so pleased that Rebecca and Steven gave me the opportunity to shoot for them, it really was a cracking way to end another brilliant year with my cameras!

They're a great couple, and from my experience of working with them they have a brilliant attitude to life and are absolutely perfect for each other. I'm sure everyone who knows Rebecca and Steven will agree that they have a wonderful future ahead of them.

Congratulations to you both and best wishes for 2018 and beyond. xxx
