Helen and Leon - The Stables

On a warm day in July, Helen and Leon married at The Stables, just outside of Whitby in beautiful North Yorkshire. It's a fabulous venue, with panoramic countryside views, a huge marquee for entertaining guests and self contained cottages, perfect for morning preparations.

Helen and her two daughters, along with her parents and bridesmaids prepared for the wedding ceremony in a stunning wooden lodge, just a stones throw away from the reception venue, that proved to be a fabulous space for photographs. We shot candid moments along with a handful of posed portraits, making the best out of the natural light streaming through the windows and doors.

The ceremony took place within the walls of the venue, in a beautifully converted space with rustic brick walls and wooden beams. A heartfelt wedding service ensued, culminating in Helen and Leon leading their guests out into the sunshine, showered in confetti and to a rapturous applause.

We used the grounds of The Stables to shoot photographs of Helen and Leon immediately after the ceremony, capturing those first moments together as husband and wife. The remainder of the day (aside from a handful of group shots) was photographed in a reportage style, with particular highlights being the highly entertaining speeches. Magician Luke Howells was also on hand to dazzle the wedding party with his wonderful magic! With the temperature being so warm, guests enjoyed drinks on the lawn with light music in the background, before a DJ arrived to bring the party atmosphere indoors.

I left the party a little while after Helen and Leon's first dance, feeling confident that I had captured the love and laughter of a wonderful occasion for a lovely couple.

It was a pleasure to shoot for Helen and Leon, and a pleasure as always to be back at The Stables.

Congratulations! xx
